Three bones fuse to form the innominate bone: the ilium, ischium, and pubis. At birth these parts are separate and grow together to become one hip bone (os coxa) by late adolescence, centered around the acetabulum where the thigh bone’s head fits. The three parts meet at a growth region called the triradiate cartilage before fully fusing. The other options mix in leg bones or parts of the spine, or leave out one of the pelvic bones, so they don’t form the innominate bone.
